About UnitingCare Community Options
UnitingCare Community Options is a major provider of community support services in the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne, an area that covers the municipalities of Boroondara, Knox, Maroondah, Manningham, Monash, Whitehorse, and the Yarra Ranges. We are part of the wider UnitingCare Australia network which consists of more than 400 organizations, provides over 25,000 residential and community care places, and services over 800,000 Australians each year throughout rural and urban Australia.
UnitingCare Community Options was launched in 1989 with a pilot program that sought to help older people with dementia remain living at home. Since that time the organization has grown significantly and we now work with people of all ages and abilities in order to help them enjoy normal, valued lives at home and as part of the community. Our vision is to achieve a good life for all.
“People are at their best when they are able to
participate in their community and use their time
and skills to enrich both their own lives and
those of others.” (Cameron, Pastoral Care Worker)
We provide support to people in a variety of different ways and are committed to working with people to help determine what they need to achieve the goals they have for their lives. Vital to this is our belief in the importance of creating positive partnerships. We believe that the best way that we can achieve our goal is to work with people by creating supportive, lasting relationships. We also believe that as an organization we benefit significantly from the support we gain by having strong partnerships with community groups, government departments, referral agencies, and other service providers in the region.
We are committed to undertaking research, policy and advocacy work in order to advance the case of those we represent. Our goal is to strengthen communities, improve service delivery, contribute to government policy development, and build a harmonious and inclusive society.
