Research
Introduction
Since our very first pilot project for older people with Dementia, UnitingCare Community Options has maintained a strong focus not only on providing effective, innovative community-based care, but also on supporting community care research. We recognise that the way to the highest possible service standard is by ensuring that our work is based on a strong research base.
Our formal commitment to research is reflected in our mission statement which states our aim of being a recognised leader in community care practice and research. Most recently this aim has been put into practice through our commitment to a long-term research partnership with the Deakin University School of Nursing. This partnership follows on from successful research projects undertaken in conjunction with Melbourne University, RMIT, and Victoria University.
Our research is directed by the Strategy Committee of our Board of Governance, the Practice Quality Committee and the experiences of participants and staff. Working in conjunction with research fellow Goetz Ottmann, our research agenda ensures that we continue to provide highly effective services in support of people with differing needs and work towards our goal of promoting the development of newer, better community services.
