STRATEGIC DIRECTION

Our Strategic Direction forms the basis of our yearly operational plans and helps ensure that the organisation is moving towards a united goal. Our long-term strategy is developed in close consultation with our stakeholders.

UnitingCare Community Options recently adopted a new 2011-2013 Strategic Plan. The new Plan reflects the changing nature of the community sector and broadly sets out how we plan to respond to the needs of our participants over the next three years. It also provides a focus for our organisational development and our work on improving efficiency throughout the organisation.

Strategic Plan 2011-13

1. RESPONSIVENESS
Providing responsive and quality Services

UCCO will continue to deliver innovative high quality services that meet both the needs of the individual and their support network, and the needs of the community in which we work.

We will do this by:

  • Working in partnership with people to ensure our services are relevant and responsive to individual circumstances
  • Building the capacity of individuals to live as independently as they wish to do so, and to exit our service if that is their ultimate goal
  • Utilising the skills and resources of other organisations and the Uniting Church network to deliver quality services
  • Reviewing our practices and programs within established quality frameworks
  • Actively engaging with our participants in reviewing our service provision
  • Putting in place measures that improve equity in service provision and accessibility to all.

2. INNOVATION
Being open to new ideas to broaden the range and impact of our Services

UCCO will continue to foster an organisational culture aligned to its values and mission, open to innovation and change, and to invest in the development of its staff.

We will do this by:

  • Continuing to develop our internal capacity and encourage our staff to share and expand their skills and knowledge
  • Encouraging staff and participants to identify gaps in service delivery and to develop new and innovative responses
  • Providing staff with opportunities to reflect and present on their practices to their peers within the sector
  • Being attuned to new opportunities to broaden the range of our services.

3. ADVOCACY
Using our knowledge to improve Service Design and Delivery

UCCO will use its research and policy capacity to better inform and influence the community and governments about the delivery of quality community services.

We will do this by:

  • Engaging with policy makers on issues that impact on the lives of our participants
  • Building on our research partnership with Deakin University to create a body of knowledge that will inform our practice and our advocacy agenda across ageing, disability and mental health
  • Informing our participants and the communities, in which we are located, of our work, our research and our aspirations for the future.
