Do you feel isolated or alone? Are there activities you'd like to be taking part in? Do you find it difficult to connect with people in your community?

The Community Development program at UnitingCare Community Options is a unique program that has a single goal: to do whatever it takes to help you reach your particular community-related goal. Some of those that take part in the Community Development program have relatively broad goals. Those goals may be to make some new friends or to find opportunities to engage in activities with other people in the community. Other people know exactly what they want, be it to find a way to go fishing again, or the desire to find a particular type of job.

Of course, before you can begin pursuing that goal, you need to know exactly what it is that you want to achieve. And that's why our staff not only work to help you achieve your goals, but also first spend time with you to talk about what your interests are, what you are trying to achieve, and some of the ways that you might be able to achieve what you want. Initially, you might not even yet know what that goal is.

Over the course of several weeks or months, the Community Development Worker will work closely with you to identify not only what your goals are but how best to achieve those goals. The worker may then attend the activity with you the first few times and help you figure out the logistics of transport to help you attend. They might also help you source equipment or resources you need.

One of the key benefits of the Community Development program is that it is different for every person that accesses it. Your needs shape the program and make it specific to you.
